Box Clad were commissioned to design and build this balcony in Tunbridge Wells. We took control of this project from start to finish, handling the design, build, planning application and building control process for our client.
Our task was to create a raised outdoor living/dining area that could be accessed directly from the second floor of the house. We subsequently designed and built a timber balcony and installed a modern glass/metal balustrade with privacy screens (due to planning permission) to the sides. The floor was decked using Kebony, a product developed in Norway. Kebony technology is an environmentally friendly, patented process that enhances the properties of sustainable softwood. Kebony is a low-maintenance material that does not require any additional treatment beyond normal cleaning. The structure was built on screw piles to minimise the impact on the existing site.
We pride ourselves on the fact that all our projects are bespoke and are specifically designed for the needs of our client. The access to this balcony was a key part of the design process as it had to be suitable in the short term for disabled access, but also didn’t compromise on the design aesthetic for any future property owners.
